Dear Community Members,
I am pleased to share exciting news regarding a major advancement in our transportation services. At the August Board of Education (BOE) meeting, the BOE approved the purchase of five new electric school buses, a step that supports both environmental sustainability and long-term cost savings for our district.
This initiative was made possible through a $2,000,000 grant, secured after months of diligent behind-the-scenes work by our transportation team, including our bus superintendent, business manager, district mechanic, and members of the BOE. Planning began in early winter and included a competitive bid process, extensive training on electric bus technology, and a comprehensive cost analysis to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Because of strategic management of this grant, the overall cost to the district will be under $50,000, eliminating the need for a bond and relieving taxpayers of any financial burden.
We’re proud to announce that this grant allowed us to purchase five buses, one more than originally anticipated. These new buses will meet all Michigan school bus safety standards and include handicap accessibility on one unit, ensuring safe, equitable transportation for all our students.
We also made it a priority to work with local vendors and service providers to keep support for this project within our community whenever possible.
Thank you for your continued support as we take this important step forward. These buses represent a significant investment in our students’ future and the health of our community.

State Assessments
The state assessment program is mandatory. It is regarded by the state as important as the curriculum. As a school district we are required to test our students and it is a part of our school report cards from the state. Due to confusion and conflicting information, the State Superintendent of Schools issued the following parent letter.
Volunteering
If you would like to volunteer in our schools, you will need to fill out a volunteer form and pass a background check. This is required by state law and helps ensures the safety of our students. Please download the form below and turn it into the school office.
