Welcome Back!
For the 2020-21 school year, Athens Area Schools District is planning to have 2 options for parents and students.
Option 1 is a hybrid model and is face-to-face/virtual learning. With this option, we will have face-to-face learning as the primary mode of education 5 days a week. We will transition to virtual learning if the Health Department and the Governor dictates that need to us. Lessons under this option will continue to be presented by our excellent teachers in the event that face to face learning is not allowed for a period of time.
If you want your child to take part in Option 1, you do not need to do anything but send your students to school. If they are not enrolled at Athens, you will need to enroll them.
Option 2 is a total virtual education using courses presented in Edgenuity. Students will take all classes virtually and have access to teachers through that organization. We will provide equipment to provide this option if necessary. Any students using this virtual option, must participate for the entire semester. Students also must be monitored while they are participating in the classes by an adult.
If you want your child to take part in Option 2, you will need to contact Walter Dubbeld to enroll at dubbeldw@athensk12.org or call 269-319-0579. You will also need to sign the permission form and return it to the school. Students also need to be enrolled in school as well. High School students should contact the high school counselor, Lloyd Service at 269-729-5427 ext.208 or servicel@athensk12.org
In addition, all of those who are participating in more than 2 virtual classes need to fill out an EDP or Educational Development Plan. Please fill that out and return it.
Enrollment in Option 2 is open now for second semester until January 15.
